MICROSCOPE WITH SLIDES AND TWEEZERS IN BOX
1912(a) Simple microscope (monocular), angle focus, reflected light, in a lidded wooden box. There is a small adjustable circular mirror in which light is reflected below the stage where the glass slides are held in place by two metal clips. The milled screw at the side of the microscope tube enables the viewer to rack the microscope up or down for a coarse focus.
(b-g) Glass slides, rectangular with residue of specimens under cover slips.
(h) Brass tweezers to handle slides.
(i) Wooden box with hinged lid and baize covered rests and dividers for holding the microscope secure.
The microscope was presented to the donor in 1941 by its owner, chemist Hayward Arthur Cooke (see 94.104).
