Reckitt's Blue

Contextual Information

Reckitt's Blue is a type of laundry whitener, now chiefly used as a brightening agent.
The Reckitt's company was set up in 1840 by Isaac Reckitt when he purchased a starch works in Dansom Lane, Hull U.K.. The firm started by making starch-related products but soon branched out to include washing blue and blacklead for grates. Reckitt's Blue is an iconic product of the firm. In 1879 the company became Reckitt and Sons Ltd. (https://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/objects/1jKTi_S6Tui36_OFk0gJ_g)
