Overview

Large pine panelled cupboard made with thick sheets of stained pine.
Two (2) front doors to cupboard, full size with an overlapping length of vertical timber (R over L).
Inside is a single horizontal shelf stained or painted black/brown.
Lower half is divided into two by a vertical panel. Insides of doors are reinforced with two vertical brackets. RH door has a keyhole with a mechanism on the inside. LH door has a timber latch sinewed to the bottom RHS of the inside.
Doors have slipped low on hinges and does not close properly.
RHS of cupboard has one panel made from timber with a circle cut out and reinforced with another inside.
Dirty, scratched, stained mainly from use.

Contextual Information

This cupboard is made from a packing case and has shelves and a partition inside.
It is very typical of 'packing case' furniture made by settlers who re-used the packing cases that their own belongings were shipped in, or other goods crates.
