GEORGE AND EMILY COOPER IN ENGLAND

The women are wearing long skirts and high-necked, long-sleeved blouses; the men three piece suits, shirts and ties. The child is wearing a pinafore. Historical information

George Cooper was born in Claremont and was apprenticed to his father at a boat builder. Later worked for Chamberlain's Boat Building Enterprises in Fremantle. He married Emily Chamberlain. In 1910 he built the boatshed at 8 Victoria Ave where he constructed river craft & pearling luggers. As well as his boat building enterprise, Mr Cooper bought out the boat hire business which belonged to Mr J J Vick {called 'Vix' Pleasure Boats}, located at Claremont Jetty from 1905-1927. Photo taken during a trip to England was made into a postcard and copies sent to all the family.
