SS RUNIC RUN AGROUND ON SANDBAR & SS MEDIC {STEAMSHIPS} PULLING SHIP OFF
Watercolour, ink and gouache of the White Star cargo liners, S.S. RUNIC & S.S. MEDIC alongside each other, the 'RUNIC' has run aground on a sandbar in the harbour, and the 'MEDIC', her sister ship, is behind SS Runic pulling her off.

Comments are written in pencil in all margins as follows:- Top margin, from left to right - "Con Ends", "Blue Peter Flags", "Medic 4", "No long astern?"; LH Margin, towards the bottom - "Blue Grey Fine Morning"; Bottom margin, from left to right - "A record for the State", "White Star Line's Runic & Medic Feb 14(?) 06. 10am", "Jessie & lighter", "See", with an arrow pointing to a note about half way up the RH margin, which says "Steam from Jessie's funnel" , with a non-understandable two word comment. At the top of the RH margin, "This of below", "which date correct? 31 Jan 06 Runic 11am Medic 7?". Below the comment about steam from Jessie's funnel is written "Mammoth Lines", which is circled in pencil.
