Overview

B/W Studio portraits made into postcards. (a) A small boy with blond curly hair in a bob sits with hands in his lap. He is wearing a light, long-sleeved jumper buttoned on the shoulder to the high neck. On the rear is printed [Ruskin Studio/ Perth]. (b) The same child is photographed leaning against a balustrade. His arms are extended, his hands resting on the top railing and his legs are crossed. His long jumper almost covers his knitted shorts. Embossed in the bottom right corner is [Ruskin Studio/ PERTH].

Historical information

Raymond John Bruce Sharkey was son of Raymond and Edith Florence Sharkey. Attended Scotch College. Keen sailor like his Father. According to the book 'Red Tail Skies', Bruce worked for Qantas prior to his enlistment in the RAAF in WWII. He died 12/7/42 while serving in Sqn 460 RAAF on a raid over Hamburg.
