Overview

Twenty-eight sub lieutenants of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve, grouped in three rows. They are in training uniform consisting of peaked cap with navy emblem, dark, double-breasted jacket worn with white cravat, light trousers, gaiters and dark shoes. Four members are holding model aircraft.

John Lefroy married Maida Sharkey in 1932.
Photo possibly taken at the completion of a training course.
The wavy 'ring' on sleeves indicates both rank and fact that it is a volunteer unit - known as the ' Wavy Navy'.
The model planes may indicate a connection with Fleet Air Arm.
