'Wainomi' 3 Victoria Avenue, Claremont

Overview

Brick and iron house with two brick chimneys and a wooden verandah on stumps. The white wooden verandah posts are linked with wooden arches and have decorative brackets. There are three steps to the central entrance with gable over. Either side of the door are full length sash windows. Three white fence posts, wire fence, with small plants between them, mark the front boundary and there are trees in the background.

Historical information

Wainomi 3 Victoria Avenue, Claremont was the home of Raymond John and Florence Edith Sharkey. Wainomi means 'Pearl Water' in Hawaiian.

Raymond John Sharkey an architect, surveyor and amateur photographer was born in 1868 in New South Wales. Raymond was a Claremont resident when he died at an early age.
