About organisation
The Eastern Goldfields Historical Society is a non-profit organisation run mostly by volunteers dedicated to the collection and preservation of Goldfields history. Each year, members share this history by helping hundreds of visitors and researchers learn about the region and the people who built it.
Its reference library holds a comprehensive selection of popular and rare books about the Goldfields and Western Australia including local histories, biographies and reference works, as well as a large collection of reference documents, research papers, ephemera and manuscripts. It is the proud custodian of over 60,000 photographs, with subjects ranging from mining and industry to the people who built the towns and vast pastoral holdings, as well as the region’s Aboriginal residents. Copies of many of these images and books can be purchased through the book shop.
