Eastern Goldfields Historical Society

A man, hands on hips, stares at a horse sitting down on a bush road. The horse is harnessed to a two-wheeled cart carrying a large sealed box.
In this posed image, the horse is depicted refusing to further cart a tank of water. In the Eastern Goldfields horses were also used underground in gold mines, in often adverse conditions.
