About organisation
Albany's Historic Whaling Station is a tourism precinct located on the site of the last operational whaling station in Australia, the Cheynes Beach Whaling Company. The station closed in in 1978.
The museum opened in 1980 (known then as Whale World), and it is now home to an interactive museum on modern whaling history. Tourist can visit the site and explore an intact whale processing factory and whale chasing ship - fully restored and ready for you to discover. As well as much, much more. Allow at least 3 hours to enjoy all there is to see and do.
We are open 9am - 5pm daily (closed 25th December only).
