About organisation
Albany's Historic Whaling Station is a tourism precinct that operates on the site of the last whaling company in Australia.
The Cheynes Beach Whaling Company was the last whaling company to cease operations in Australia, closing in 1978.
The museum opened in 1980 (known then as Whale World), it is now home to an interactive museum on whales and whaling. Tourist can visit the site and explore an intact whale processing factory and whale chasing ship - fully restored and ready for you to discover. As well as much, much more. Allow at least 3 hours to enjoy all there is to see and do.
We are open 9am - 5pm daily (closed 25th December only).
