The poster denotes protest action in Albany WA, which was part of a larger global activist movement to end whaling. The action came at time where there was growing political and environmental support to end whaling. With the decline in the requirement for whale oil, due to the availability alternative products, there was also an economic imperative to end the whaling industry.
