A large square shaped book with a hard cover in a yellowish discolored light blue. The document is bound with cotton and has white fabric tape on the spine.

Historical information

The logbook is from the SS Cheynes, the Cheynes Beach Whaling Station's first steam powered whale chaser. Pages are filled in by First Mate Captain Axel H. Christensen. They are not signed by Captain Hughes. The logbook gives an account of the working of the vessel and crew from 2/4/1956 to 13/11/1956, including whale sightings and whales caught. Logbook entries fill half the document and the other half is blank.
