Overview

The original black and white image shows a studio portrait of Eva Edmeades, about aged 32. Handwritten on the back: 'Wishing (scratch) Merry Christmas. V.' The subject is wearing a tight black shirt with floral decoration, sash, V-neck bodice with high collared white shirt underneath and a small bolero-style jacket with a high collar. Appearance of fresh flowers tucked into bodice. The background consists of heavily brocaded curtain, wicker chair, plant and an elaborately carved gilt Empire-style chair.
