Bottom centre: 'The White Tower - This massive tower was built by / William the Conqueror in 1078, and is the oldest portion of the / Tower. Its walls are immensely thick, from 12 to 15 feet at the / base, and rise to a height of ninety feet. The turrets that / surmount each corner are a striking feature, and at one time / cannons were mounted on the roof.'
