A water colour and ink drawing of a two storey brick house with three visible chimneys and a verandah on the second storey. There are shrubs and trees in the foreground. This drawing is probably drawn from a postcard and is drawn from the left hand corner of the building.

Historical information

The house is 'Kobeelya' house was built by Frederick Henry and Mary Piesse. Frederick Henry Piesse was an important business man in the early 1900's and developed a number of businesses.

Inscriptions and markings

At the bottom of the drawing is hand written in black ink "Kobeelya - 5th June, 1903". At the bottom right hand side is the signature "L.Monck".

Contextual Information

Lesley Monck was aged 15 years in 1964 and was the daughter of Muriel and Les Monck. Les Monck was the District Officer from 1950 to 1967/68 of Katanning Water Supply. The office of which is now the museum?, he transferred to the new depot before transferring back to the Albany office. This artwork was likely drawn from item HSP1987.199, which as of April 2025 is missing.
