Historical information

Construction of the Yanchep Inn began in 1936, in response to the park's popularity as a holiday destination. During the 1930s, philanthropist, Sir Charles McNess donated 11,600 pounds to the State. The donation was used by the State Gardens Board to employ sustenance workers on major developments within the park.

Yanchep Inn was built between March and December 1936 and the hotel opened on 12 December 1936. Originally owned by Louis Shapcott, it provided luxurious accommodation in Yanchep National Park.
