Historical information

The idea of developing Yanchep Park as a modern tourist resort was conceived in the early 1930s by Mr. L.E. Shapcott, Chairman of the State Gardens Board. After the completion of the guest house and pool in 1933, the volume of visitors to Yanchep Park vastly increased. A regular motorbus service from Perth was introduced to meet this new demand.
