Historical information

During World War II, in 1943, Yanchep Park, W.A., was taken over by the RAAF and was no longer open to the public. The Yanchep Inn became known as No. 4 Rehabilitation Unit and was used for the rest and recuperation of returned servicemen. Gloucester Lodge was utilised as an office and barracks for the Radar Squadron. From 1943 to 1945 the No. 227 Radar and Communication Unit had its headquarters at Gloucester Lodge. The receiving and transmitting bunkers and accompanying wooden towers were situated two kilometres away.
