Brown cover with title in embossed block print with gold highlights. Cover illustration - behind title text - is a black outline of a mountain range with flag and banner at lower foreground draped over a cannon. Cover has deteriorated in places and book is worn.

Historical information

The original owner, per the inscription, is believed to have been Mabel Patti Solomon: born 11 Oct 1877. Mabel married William Patrick Dempster and had 8 children. She died on 18 Nov 1924 in Northam, WA.
Mabel was the younger sister of Emma Amalie Solomon (1873-1960) who was the original owner of the book, 'Claudia, A Tale', Shire of Toodyay collection 2001.1810.
