Historical information

Mrs Leila Furze sold number 22 Barnfield Road to engine fitter Alfred Jones and his wife Annie Victoria Jones (nee Carter). Alfred built their Edwardian style home there in 1922. Annie and Alfred had three children, all of whom died. Twins Evelyn and Eileen died within a month of each other at age 11 in 1915. Sydney died aged 7 in 1918. Two other children are believed to have died in infancy. After Alfred's death in 1947, the house was inherited by Annie Jones's sister, Edith Valentine Warwicker (nee Carter).
