Historical information

James Thomas Peet was born in Nottinghamshire, England and moved to Queensland in 1886.

James arrived in Perth in 1889 and set up business in Perth. He was appointed a Government Land Agent and Sworn Valuator operating from 158 William Street Perth in 1900.

James married Mabel Urch in 1896. Their children were: Percy Thomas (b. 1906), Cyril Ernest (b.1904), Eric Richard Chevin (b. 1898), Doris Mable (1901-1902), Violet Ethel (b.1899) and Lillie (b.1908).

While he and his wife were on tour in 1911, he purchased a de Dion Bouton tourer car in England, after the coronation of King George V, and had it shipped to Fremantle, accompanied by driver, Mr Sawyer. Mr Peet did not drive.
