Albany Roll of Honour Board
1924A large polished jarrah board which has a large relief “Roll of Honour” scroll and two (2) beaten copper decorative panels with dates 1914-1919, United Kingdom and Australia flags on them. Each panel contains the 100 names of those who enlisted from Albany, while an additional 400 names are placed under the “Roll of Honour” scroll directly on to the wood.
Unveiled on Friday 25 April 1924 at the Town Hal by the Venerable Archdeacon Thomas Louch who drew aside the Union Jack flag, which was draping over the board. The board was affixed to the southern wall of the vestibule. It was erected by public subscription and featured 597 names of those who enlisted from Albany in the Great War.

"Arm yourselves, and be ye men of valour, and be in readiness for the conflict; for it is better for is perish in battle than to look, upon the outrage of our nation and out altars"
"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn; at the going down of the sun and in the morning, we shall remember them”
The RSL Albany Sub-branch approached the Town of Albany council who requested the board to be relocated from the Albany Public Library to the Princess Royal Fortress. The branch had pointed out that the Forts was becoming the focal point for military history and it would be more appropriate to be there.
