Overview

This black and white photograph of the Victoria Park Baseball Club's 1939 'A' grade team is mounted on off-white cardboard. Above the team photo are three circular-shaped portrait images of club officials. A fourth portrait image has been removed. The background image of the photo is a studio backdrop showing swagged fabric in front of tall arched windows, with surrounding foliage, looking beyond to a river and valley. Printed above the photo are the club's initials, name of the team and year. Below the photo are the names of the players and club officials. The name of the photographic studio is printed in the bottom right-hand corner.

Historical information

Established in 1935, the Victoria Park Baseball Club is one of the oldest baseball clubs in Australia. It was a foundation club when the Western Australian state league was formed and is now the oldest current State League club in Western Australia.

The photograph is an image by Bartletto Studio, which was located in Hay Street, Perth from the early 1900s.
