1967 Chrysler Cup Interstate Night Baseball Series — Western Australian team
A black and white photograph of the 1967 Chrysler Cup Interstate Night Baseball Series Western Australian team. The 15 players are wearing the State playing uniform and caps, while the team manager is in suit and tie.
The 1967 Chrysler Cup trophy for the interstate night baseball series was awarded to South Australia after the team triumphed behind a dominant pitching performance by Neil Page (inducted into the Australian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005). Other competing states were Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales, with Queensland playing in its first interstate night carnival. The tournament took place at Norwood Oval in Adelaide, South Australia from December 27th to 30th.

This photograph was copied from the scrapbook of Alan Cunningham, a member of the 1967 Western Australian team. At that time, Alan was a 20-year-old All-Australian utility player from South Perth, who could play any position on the diamond.
Permission to copy the photograph was given to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by Alan Cunningham's daughter Carol Cunningham.
This photograph has historic and social significance as a rare depiction of a Western Australian baseball team from the 1960s era of interstate night baseball championships. It has good provenance and comes from the family of Alan Cunningham, a member of the team.
