Souvenir Jug - The Avenue Busselton
Squat jug, white with opalescent glaze. Around the top edge is a fine black line and the square topped handle is black. The underneath of the pouring lip is also black; on the side of the jug is a black ...e transfer prinf of a street lined with trees, on the right hand side a footpath and picket fence, in the distance a conveyance and a figure, on the left hand side (distant) building with verandah posts. Beneath the picture in black print " THE AVENUE BUSSELTON).
A nice small jug with a transfer design fairly common among Busselton Souvenir Wares of this era. Full provenance not known but obviously valued by its owner.

Details
Stamped on the base in red: 5 Pointed Crown over a 2 handled vase, in the centre of the vase RK/G. beneath that in half circle: Made in Czechoslovakia. Over the Crown completing the circle Royal Sydney China. Off to one side the number 2.
Aesthetic: Pleasing glaze with its opalescent shine.
Historic: The transfer print could be of Queen Street Busselton in the late 1890's or early 1900's. However not proven.
Social: An example of a prized possession kept as a treasure.
If the scene could be proved (e.g. from a photo etc.) to be Busselton it would be very relevant.
