WW1 rectangular shaped aluminum mess tin set consisting of a deep base with a close fitting lid and rounded corners. The the lower part has a handle. A dixie like this would have been issued to most Australian soldiers to use for cooking.

Details
Dixie was trench slang for the tin soldiers used in cooking. It came from the Hindi word for kettle which was pronounced as daygachy.
