SHI SHA, CUSHION COVER

Overview

An example of traditional shi sha work with non-traditional haberdashery. In a culture of make do and mend, pieces of old shi sha have been recycled by stitching to a cotton background then added embellishments to complete a design made into a cushion cover with a zipped closure. The base fabric is cotton with cotton embroidery threads and viscose. Cotton ric rac has been added. The background fabric is a German brand flour bag. The design is a traditional mandala and other traditional shapes. This was probably made for the tourist market using old cholis.
