KNOTTING, LACIS, MAT
This white rectangular mat is an example of fine thread used in knotting the basic grid, over which woven designs are stitched. Unusual to find such fine work.
Design consists of 7 bands. The central band has a largish floral design. On either side a row of small 4 petalled flowers, then band of slightly larger flowers and boomerangs, then a row of swastikas.
At each end, scalloped edge with little flowers in the design. Just inside is a dense woven band with tiny crosses consisting of 4 holes.
