Inscriptions and markings
At the top of the shield is a metal plaque which reads 'ROGERS GREAT SOUTHERN LADIES HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP'
Starting below the smaller metal plaque which has no inscription, the first plaque reads "CARNIVAL AT KATANNING WON BY KATANNING 1924", next "CARNIVAL AT WAGIN WON BY KATANNING 1925", next "CARNIVAL AT NARROGIN Won BY KATANNING 1926" next "CARNIVAL AT ALBANY Won by KATANNING 1927", next "CARNIVAL AT KATANNING finally Won by KATANNING 1928", next "CARNIVAL AT WAGIN WON BY KATANNING 1929"'
The centre plaque is stamped "COPYRIGHT" and then the initials "J" followed with a period in the middle of the line followed by an "F", all inside a rectangle. The second symbol is an anchor, the third a lion, and finally an "A'. The silversmith was James Fenton & Co Birmingham, 1899-1934. Three of the circular plaques are stamped with silver hallmarks - all identical to the silver marks on the centre plaque.
