A black peak hat with the sides of the hat band turned up, the hat has a white crown, the lining of the hat is a cream material.

Inscriptions and markings

On the front of the black band is an embroidered black badge which had the Amalfi Cross in the centre. Around the Amalfi Cross in white lettering is "THE ST.JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGAGE"

On the inside of the hat on a white label and in blue lettering "21 1/2 Grose Bros, 74 Francis St. Perth, W.A. Phone 286928" and to the left of this writing is a blue shield with "GB" in white lettering.

Written on this label in biro is "Lyn Coleman 171 Katanning 270012"
