Federal Convention - Piesse Folder
1897 - 1942A light brown leather folder embossed with gold lettering. The cover has two rectangles outlined with two lines in gold. In the inner rectangle is a lion and a unicorn and a crown between the two, this is the emblem of the United Kingdom.
This folder was used by the Hon. F.H. Piesse at the Federal Convention to draft a constitution for Australia in 1897. When the folder is opened there are two folders in which separate documents can be stored. On the left hand folder has been stuck a piece of paper on the Hon F.H. Piesse and on the right hand side a piece of paper on Arthur Frederick Watts.

Below the emblem in gold embossed lettering is "FEDERAL CONVENTION, ADELAIDE, 1897. AND CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION CANBERRA, 1942".
At the left hand corner of the inner rectangle is "Hon. F.H. PIESSE, M.L.A.,COMMISSIONER OF RAILWAYS, WESTERN AUSTRALIA. 1897".
At the right hand corner of the outer rectangle is "MR. A.F.WATTS, M.L.A. LEADER OFOPPOSITION WESTERN AUSTRALIA. 1942."
One of the few original document folders from Federal Convention in Adelaide 1897.
