HANDKERCHIEF
c. 1950 - 1959“The Cosmetic Handkerchief” is unique hanky, manufactured in Northern Ireland for dabbing applied lipstick. Handkerchief purchased by the donor in Boans Department store in Perth in the 1950s.
Following end of WWII, cosmetics came into general use and this hanky served the purpose of blotting lipstick before the advent of paper tissues.
Kept in its original cellophane packaging, the handkerchief is red printed fabric , a white border and the image of glamorous lady applying lipstick. In each corner the words “Pour le Rouge”.
