GENERAL EMBROIDERY, PICTURE
Made in Bangladesh in the 1990s by a community organisation, this beautifully embroidered picture shows the quality of the skills of the workmanship of the region. Created in a village, and marketed by Barry Isen a Bengali born Australian of missionary parents, who spoke the local languages fluently.
His project developed the skills of the rural embroiderers and weavers who were located away from the road system. Barry built a relationship with the villagers and worked with them to provide an off land income. His support included marketing thru to purchasing wide looms for the remote communities.
This beautiful picture of a local lady is fully hand embroidered in silk on a silk background and shows a lady stitching. She is dressed in an embroidered sari and is framed in a rich coral silk and gold frame.
The work is signed by the artist.
