Contextual Information

Ann Elizabeth McDermott was born in 1833 and married George Munro Whitfield in 1856.
She was 23 and he was 41. Typical of women of her era she went on to have a large family; 10 children in all. Sadly she also lost 3 of those children in infancy - the last two children she bore were twin boys who died very young.
Ann conducted a private school in Toodyay during the 1870s.
She died in 1924.
