Overview

Serial No.3480. One smooth bore & one rifle barrel 45/50 calibre (patch box) muzzle loading; stock decorated with running deer & floreate disigns.
Cleaning & spare parts recessed container, metal plate on base of stock with floreate design on top of brass inlay 2cm X 1.5cms.
Also metal carry loop. Stock decorated with diamond cross hatch design. Push button mechanism - possibily rod release. Trigger guard decorated with foleate design. Metal surrounds of flintlocks also decorated with diamond cross hatching on wood, underneath barrel where ramrod is inserted.
Ramrod, a dark wood, possibly ebony with an indented torase end. Two metal loops hold ramrod in place; one having similar carrloads to that on underside of butt. Markings on flat surface on top side of barrel are in inch increments for measuring antler horns. (See old labels.)

Historical information

In existing collection, old label establishes date. 1962 list states muzzle loader double barrel donated by Mr D Forsyth - this could be it. Interview with Bruce Prior 2/12/2008 not a military weapon.
