Overview

Double barrel shotgun; maker F.R.? Roberts, Birmingham England.
Muzzle loading, with two flint locks and wooden ramrod.
The gun has a double trigger and a small push button (ramrod release) mechanism on the stock underside, which has oval brass edgings in the button holes.
There is a small brass disc on the butt underside.
There is a cross hatched incised carving on the wood of the stock.
Metal plates under the flintlocks are engraved with foleate design and zig-zag edging.
The butt has a metal plate on end, and a small metal plate reinforces the ramrod hole. The ramrod is held in position with two metal loops on the underside of barrels.

Historical information

In existing collection. 1962 list says muzzle loader double barrel donated by Mr D Forsyth.
November 2015: Registered on Firearm Collector's Licence 8810863 exp 6 Dec 2018
