Overview

Bay View Terrace south, from the intersection of Claremont Avenue (now Stirling Highway). On the left or eastern side is the Claremont Park with many trees and enclosed by a light coloured picket fence. Two girls in light dresses are at the entrance to the park at the northern end. On the right side is a person riding a light coloured horse into a property, the Blacksmith's. Several people are walking further down the road and in the middle background is Matheson's Terrace (later the Bay View Mansions) on Victoria Avenue is visible.

Historical information

Claremont Avenue was the section of the Perth-Fremantle Road that passed through Claremont.
The Perth-Fremantle Road was renamed Stirling Highway in 1932 after the first Governor of Western Australia, Admiral Sir James Stirling.
