1918B/W copy. Troops of the 44th Battalion WWl leaving the front line area in France in December 1918. The leading group is 'C' Company of which the donor, who was a member, is marked by an arrow. A tall Lieutenant Murray is halfway down the line with 'D' Company behind him. A row of two storey buildings is in the background. Hand written on the image [The 44th leave the line for the/last time Dec 1918] and several names.
The 44th Battalion was known as 'Claremont's Own'.
