Overview

Foreshore of Freshwater Bay near the Johnston's home 34 Victoria Avenue showing Dr Johnston, 3 ponies and 3 local children (girls) . Shows rear of 46. The family kept ponies at No.34 and 46 (maternal grandparents) Victoria Avenue. Black Shetland (middle) called "Charming" (mare) and always escaped to Riley Road or Butler's Swamp to a stallion there a skewbald named "Robin Hood". Historical information

Guildford Grammar School. Completed his Tertiary Study at Melbourne University. Served as a gunner in 103 Howitzer Infantry in the Great War, and was wounded at The Somme. On the outbreak of World War 11 he joined the Army Medical Corps and served in the Middle East and Mediterranean and when war was over, returned to Perth to practise. Maternal grandparents lived at 46 Victoria Ave. Dr Johnston moved from Colin St to Victoria Ave.
