Overview

This set of photographs shows several views of the Melville Glades golf course. Some have a processing date of January 1977. They all belong to a series taken in the mid 1970s so it has been assumed that they are all circa 1976 and early 1977. Some have the people identified on the rear whilst those that do not have been described from the context of each photograph.

1, 2. Two views of unidentified people teeing off the 14th hole, believed to be 1976-77 based on other photographs in this set. High voltage power lines above the line of play identify it as the 14th hole which at that stage was 174m for the men and 116m for the women.

3. Two people, one putting on the green, hole not identified but appears to be the 17th green par 5 before conversion to a par 3.

4. Two men on the 17th hole par 5 before conversion – note tree and grass tree in the distance before the 18th tee.

5. Barry McClean resting in the shade, location not known.

6. Chas Stockwell getting ready prior to a round of golf.

7. On the bend of the 16th hole looking back towards the tee.

8. Unidentified group of players, location unknown (camera lens obscured).

9. Cyril Wildy & Esme Horry (later Wildy), Ann & Jim Corsie, location unknown.

The photographs were removed from an album where they were adhered to the cardboard backing pages. The album contained several sets of photographs believed to have been taken by Geoff Holmes, MGGC President in 1976-77.
