DON MORAN'S 1980 ANNUAL GOLF DAY
1980This document is a parody that Don Moran wrote in 1980 for one of his annual “Don’s Parties” on which he would invite a number of his Melville Glades golfing friends on the last Sunday before Christmas to celebrate his birthday on the 23rd December.
The content suggests that an 18 hole round of golf was followed by time in the clubhouse.
The parody references several people including Don himself cast as ''Teter Pompson - Professional Golfer'' (Peter Thompson) and gives them roles in an “18 Hole Comedy / Drama”:
- Lance Hardie
- Peter Noordeman
- Max Hannah
- Ray Paddon
- Peter Castley
- Peter Guest
It is not known the duration of these “Don’s Parties”, but the content of the document captures some of the characters and enjoyment that members enjoyed in the earlier years of the club’s existence.
