Melville Glades Golf Club

Melville Glades Golf Club is a private golf club located in the City of Melville just south of Perth, Western Australia.

The club was incorporated in 1967. Creating the club was an incredible effort. It required a strong group of eight founders to encourage several hundred prospective members to make a significant, up-front financial commitment to create a financial platform, all before there was a golf course to play on. Then there were the tasks of locating a suitable piece of land, designing, and constructing the golf course and clubhouse, purchasing equipment, forming the club’s management committees, and employing staff. The playing of golf commenced in 1969 after just two years of planning and development. Since then, many thousands of members have enjoyed the opportunity of getting their exercise whilst playing golf and experiencing the social interaction that the club provides.

Our club is located on a land reserve with an area of just under sixty-eight hectares. Today approximately 1200 members and many visitors enjoy the wintergreen couch fairways and bent grass greens that results in the 18-hole golf course being virtually fully occupied seven days a week throughout the year. The land retains areas of native bushland that, together with the golf course, support a large population of western grey kangaroos, many other native animals, and a wide variety of birdlife, all of which are indigenous to the location.

The club’s History and Heritage Committee was formed in 2017 to preserve Melville Glades’ history. Club members serve on the Committee voluntarily under the direction of the club’s Board of Management. Whilst the historical collection of material is of primary interest to the club’s membership, we welcome the public to view its content. Visitors should contact the club’s administration if they wish to visit.
