VINTAGE BREAD SLICER, BRUNNER, 1960
A German-manufactured bread slicer from the mid-twentieth century. The device has a simple hinged folding timber base with a small hand-cranked circular blade attached. The base would be fixed to the kitchen table via a rotating c-clamp.
The blade has an open-fronted guard into which the bread is pushed past a metal guide plate, acting as a gauge to vary the thickness of the bread slices produced. A typical household appliance from the era, this example sold by 'Brunner' was also branded and sold by various other German and Danish appliance makers.
