The Armadale Cricket Club was formed in the 1900 and would regularly play games from other teams located along the railway line as well as teams visiting from other country towns. In the 1920s they joined the South Suburban Cricket Association which included cricket teams in the south eastern corridor of Perth. The club is still in playing today fielding a number of senior and junior teams.
Levi Butcher was born in 1887 on the family farm located along the Wungong Brook and went to school in Bedfordale. In 1905 Levi purchased the family farm and two years later he married Mary Smith. Levi was an active member of the local community, he was a member and officer bearer for a number of years of the Bedfordale Agricultural Society as well as a long term member of the Armadale Cricket Club. In 1926 he was awarded life membership of the club. This may have been partially caused by the fact that by 1927 he had left the district and was living briefly in Mandurah before moving to a wheat and sheep farm in Moora.
