Various sporting organisations hosted days during and after both world wars where entry fees contributed to charities which supported serving and returned veterans.
Several medallions, trophies and certificates awarded for winning such competitions are held in the collection including for billiards, lawn tennis and golf.
This certificate of one of several held in the collection where the recipient has foregone a monetary award or trophy and instead donated the equivalent value to a war fund, in this case the Hurstville Patriotic and War Fund.
