1937Creamy-white square cake plate with corners rounded off in scallops. Rim outlined with gold. Photos of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth set in oval frames flanked by British flags and surmounted by a crown and legend: 12 May 1937. Scroll beneath reads: H.M. King George VI CORONATION H.M Queen Elizabeth. On the opposite side on rim of plate is an oval blue shield surmounted by a crown and carrying the letters GR VI, together with a surrounding scroll which reads: 'Coronation 12th May 1937'. Phoenix Ware made in England by T.G. and S.L. Ltd. This cake plate is part of a trio composed of cup and saucer (92.80 a,b).
