BAG: SHOE TIDY CALICO EMBROIDERED
c. 1930Off-white calico bag edged with lilac bias binding. There is a circular aperture in the upper half of the bag to admit shoe cleaning kit. 'Shine 'em' is embroidered in black across top left hand corner and little multi-coloured daisies adorn the upper part of the bag. A bias binding loop allows the bag to be suspended. There are three pockets below to hold black, white and tan tins of polish, each one indicated by the words in the appropriate colour embroidered diagonally across the pocket.
Mrs Grace James moved into 224 Nicholson Rd. after her marriage and lived there from 1923 to 1993.
