POWDER BOWL: XYLONITE, WITH SEPARATE LID

Overview

Bulbous honey-coloured bowl with wide flat circular base resting on three knobs for feet. Two horizontal striations are incised near base. The sides curve inward towards a smaller circular top opening. The circular flat lid with a lip that fits into the mouth of the bowl has a flattened knob for lifting. Used for powder, usually with the powder puff on top and placed on dressing table. See also 1992.92 [ab]. Marked 'Made in England.'
