SAUCER - CORONATION OF KING GEORGE VI AND QUEEN ELIZABETH

Overview

a) Creamy-white cup with straight sides sloping down to a flat base. Rim and angular handle outlined with gold. Photos of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in oval frames surmounted by a crown and legend: 12th May 1937 and flanked by British flags. Scroll beneath reads: 'H.M. King George VI Coronation H.M. Queen Elizabeth. On the opposite side of cup is an oval blue shield with the letters GR VI surrounded by scroll 'Coronation 12th May 1937'. b) Saucer carries same photos etc. as the cup. Forms trio with cake plate 92.81.
